What once started as a life in a cave expanded into a rugged beach shack, an oceanview apartment, and now, an intimate surf & retreat location. 

We invite you to come stay with us — surf the day away and chase seagulls on an empty stretch of beach. Play with the donkeys or soak up the eternal sun. 

Take a hike along the rugged mountains and dip your fingers into a terrific tajine.

Perhaps you want to fish, make a fire, or speak with the rocks — do whatever your heart tells you to. Or maybe you'd like to do nothing for a while and, simply, be. Above all, we like you to feel free.

Our stylishly decorated Berber house features five rooms arranged around a central courtyard. Three rooms have private bathrooms, while two share a communal shower and toilet. Whether you stay for a surf holiday, a retreat, or remote work, you’ll find a space that feels both comfortable and inspiring.

  • Amid the Argan forest, Wilde Tigmi is a unique Berber home in South-West Morocco, about 1.5 hours South of beautiful Essaouira and 4 km from the fishermen’s town of Tafedna.

  • The closest airport is Essaouira Airport, with direct flights from Europe via Düsseldorf Weeze, Brussels Charleroi, London Stansted, Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, Nantes, Marseille, Seville, Madrid, or Barcelona. From Essaouira, it’s about 1.5 hours to Wilde Tigmi by private taxi (€35 one way).

    Agadir Airport is approximately 3 hours away, and Marrakech Airport about 4 hours. Both can be reached easily by private taxi (€80 one way) or your own car.

  • Having a car can be very convenient when visiting Wilde Tigmi, as we are about 4 km from the village of Tafedna and the local surf spot or if you like to see some more of the aerea. However, many guests also do visit without a car, walking about 50 minutes to the village or 30 minutes to the beach. We can arrange a pick-up from Tafedna if needed.

  • At Wilde Tigmi, local women prepare healthy, locally sourced meals. Depending on your stay—whether a short visit, a surf retreat, or hosting your own retreat—we provide breakfast and dinner daily, with an option for lunch. Filtered water is available on-site.

  • Morocco is definitely a winter destination, and Wilde Tigmi operates in rhythm with the surf season—from October to April. Late autumn and early winter are particularly beautiful, while early spring brings unique wildflowers across the fields after the rains.

  • Absolutely. Our surf retreats and daily sessions are tailored to all levels—from complete beginners to more experienced surfers. Jamal ensures each session is adapted to your skills.

  • At Wilde Tigmi, we provide surfboards suitable for all levels—from beginners to more experienced surfers—as well as wetsuits. Whether you’re joining a surf retreat, taking daily lessons, or just coming for a few days to enjoy the waves, the equipment is ready for you at our local beach shack in Tafedna.

  • Yes! Wilde Tigmi can be rented exclusively for your group, giving you access to all rooms, shared spaces, and the land. You can organize your own retreat or use the house as a private base for your stay.

  • Yes, Wi-Fi is available in particular places in the house. While the connection is generally reliable, it’s also a place to disconnect, slow down, and enjoy the natural surroundings.

  • Wilde Tigmi is best suited for adults, teenagers, and older children who can safely enjoy the surf and the surroundings. The house and terrain are not ideal for very young children, so we generally do not accommodate small kids.

We are mindful of the environment

Water

We collect rainwater; we filter water for drinking; we reuse gray water for watering plants and trees; we use ecological cleaning products and provide natural soaps in our bathrooms.

Energy

All our hot water is solar-heated. For other electric devices, we rely on the government electricity, which is developing more and more green energy sources.

Recycling

Although recycling in Morocco is challenging, we compost, separate, and recycle where we can.

Food

We serve fresh, local and homemade food with ingredients from the season en the surrounding environment.
